Stanford University will be Charlene Felton's home

SALT LAKE CITY — Charlene A. Felton is following in her parents footsteps. Her father, Steven Felton, and her mother, Martha, met in the microbiology department of the university they attended. Charlene, a graduate of Hillcrest High School, will be studying biology, but she’s chosen marine biology, and will go to Stanford University, with one of the best marine biology departments in the nation.

TOOELE — A teacher blessing each one of her students before they leave the classroom is not a typical scene in most schools, but Saint Marguerite is not a typical educational institution. It is the only Catholic school in Tooele. "We felt the need to help and provide an alternative," said Marcella Burden, Principal. "We even have non-Catholic students whose parents are frustrated with the public school system," she said.

DRAPER — The 3A Juan Diego Catholic High School Soaring Eagle Baseball team placed second in the 2008 state championship tournament this season. They won their third straight Region VIII title with an overall 21-7 record. Four of the Soaring Eagle players have signed Letters of Intent to play college baseball. They are Jordan Cox, Bryan James, Michael Lipsey, and Patrick Fratto.

SALT LAKE CITY — Noel Hollingsworth, a 6’9"senior, played center on the 2008 Judge Memorial Catholic High School State Championship basketball team. Hollingsworth was also a member of Judge Memorial’s 2006 State Championship basketball team.

DRAPER — According to a 2006 Gallup Poll, 82 percent of Americans wish they had learned to play a musical instrument, and 67 percent expressed an interest in learning to play. Fortunately, students at Saint John the Baptist Catholic School will not have this longing: Every sixth grader of the Draper school is required to take band class.

SALT LAKE CITY — The Judge Memorial Catholic High School Boys Baseball team made school history by winning the 2008 3A State Baseball Championship Title at Kearns High School May 17. The Judge Bulldogs defeated the Juan Diego Catholic High School Soaring Eagle team 6-2.
