RIVERTON — Students from Saint Andrew School recently toured the Kauri Sue Hamilton School. The neighboring school, also located in Riverton, offers a school-age program to 155 students ages 5 to 22. Kauri Sue Hamilton School students have severe multiple disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, rare genetic disorders, deafness, blindness, and the medically fragile. In addition, many of their students also have aggressive and disruptive behaviors.

SAINT GEORGE — The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) presented Steve Cross, general manager of the Catholic Thrift Store (CTS) at St. George Catholic Church, with a certificate and medal at the 6th Annual CTS Volunteers Appreciation luncheon at Staheli's Barn. The award was given for the outstanding service that the thrift store provides to the Washington County community.

OGDEN — For 66 years, the Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict in Ogden have ministered to the people of northern Utah, first in the hospital they founded, then with a nursing school, and now with a foundation that serves the disadvantaged. In addition, the sisters volunteered and continue to do so with organizations such as United Way of Northern Utah, Ogden Regional Medical Center and the Weber Coalition for a Healthy Community.

The 2012 Utah Legislature was a relatively quiet affair, but still underscored the Catholic Church’s non-partisan teachings. As a diocese, we spoke out on issues that ranged from liberal to conservative. This utterly confused some legislators, while highlighting the beauty of our Church teachings and beliefs.
