DRAPER — More than 600 Catholics from throughout the Diocese of Salt Lake City gathered at the Skaggs Catholic Center in Draper on Sept. 17 for the 2011 Pastoral Congress. In keeping with the new effort that is underway in the diocese, most of the congress speakers focused on the topic of stewardship, which struck a chord with those who attended.

Saint Olaf's Penny Wars

Students of Saint Olaf Catholic School ushered in this year’s service activities program with a penny war. During a discussion about world events, 5th-grade students learned about the starving people in Somalia. Carly Anderson and Kalyn Avery wanted to help, so they proposed raising money for the starving refugees in East Africa.
