Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, son and friend Allan B. Valdez passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 11, 2018.

He was born on May 27, 1958 in Salt Lake City to Abel and Nary L. Valdez. He was employed with Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years, where he made many friends who became family. He would have retired this year.

Allan will be truly missed and forever remembered for his infectious laugh, loving kisses, warm smile and constant jokes. Anyone who came in contact with Allan was left touched by his warm demeanor; he will always be remembered as one of the good guys!

He is survived by his wife, Mercy Velarde (later separated), with whom he shared two boys, Travis Valdez and Matthew Valdez; his father, Abel Valdez; siblings Kenneth (Kelly) Valdez, Vickie (Jose) Martinez, Nary C. (Mario) Quintana, Lori (Jose) Contreras, Kevin (Sherri) Valdez; and partner Naomi Curiel and her children, whom he considered his own; numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nary L. Valdez.

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 16 at St Patrick Catholic Church, Salt Lake City.
