Anna Rose Laveder Wood

SANDY — Anna Rose Laveder Wood, 65, died March 28 after a valiant fight with lung cancer. She was a member of St. Thomas More Parish.

Wood was born Jan. 14, 1943, in Murray to John and Rose Trinnaman Laveder. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1962. She was an accomplished clarinetist and performed as a soloist with the Utah Symphony Salute to Youth concert at age 16. In college, she was a substitute member of the Utah Symphony and performed on many recordings. Wood graduated from the University of Utah in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. While at the University, she played her clarinet in the Marching Band, Concert Band, and University Symphony Orchestra. She met her future husband, G. Robert Wood, as a teenager in the Utah Youth Symphony. They were married Jan. 8, 1966, at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church. She was a loving and devoted mother. She and Robert loved to travel, and spent much of their retirement taking road trips around the western United States and visiting children living out of state.

She is survived by her mother, Rose Trinnaman Laveder; husband of 42 years, Robert; seven children, Elizabeth (Jim) Finnegan, G. Robert Jr., Christopher (Christine), Anne Elise (Keith) Smedberg, Paul (Kelly Reyes), David (Laura Williams), James (Kelly); brother, Michael (Lorraine) Laveder; sister-in-law, Lois Laveder; brother-in-law, Lane (Charlotte) Wood; grandchildren, Abigail, Sarah, and Kaden Smedberg, and Adalyn Wood.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Interment was in Larkin Sunset Gardens.
