Pastoral Center Closed — The Diocese of Salt Lake City Pastoral Center will be closed Tuesday-Thursday, Dec. 31-Jan. 2, for the New Year’s holiday. It will reopen Friday, Jan. 3, at 8:30 a.m.

Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God — Wednesday, Jan. 1, is a holy day of obligation in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. However, the faithful in the rural parishes and missions, in consideration of weather and travel conditions, could consider themselves dispensed from the obligation.

St. Francis of Assisi Parish Game Night — Friday, Jan. 3, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 65 East 500 North, Orem. Cost: $14. Dinner at 6:30 p.m.; games start at 7 p.m.

First Friday Mass and Rosary — Friday, Jan. 3, 9 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 11900 South 300 East, Draper. Sponsored by the Catholic Woman’s League. All women of the diocese are invited to attend to enrich their prayer life and meet other women of faith.  

40 Hours Devotion for Vocations — Jan. 5-11. Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 670 South 1100 East, SLC will have a 40-hour period of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in solemn exposition with a special emphasis for vocations. Contact the parish for details.

Msgr. Benvegnu Lecture — Monday, Jan. 6, 7 p.m. at St. Vincent Parish Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, SLC. “What Is Christian Spirituality?” presented by Msgr. M. Francis Mannion, pastor emeritus. This lecture will examine the varied spiritualties of Catholicism and suggest relevant resources and books. Free and open to the public.

40 Hours Devotion for Vocations — Jan. 12-18. Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 174 East 900 South, SLC will have a 40-hour period of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in solemn exposition with a special emphasis for vocations. Contact the parish for details.

Faith & Film Night — Wednesday, Jan. 15, 6 p.m. “Lindy Lou: Juror No. 2” will be shown in the Msgr. Fitzgerald Conference Room, Chancery Building, 303 E. South Temple, SLC. Sponsored by the Office of Life, Justice & Peace. Discussion will follow. Free and open to the public.

School Tour — Wednesday, Jan. 15, 9 a.m., at J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School, 2335 E. Redondo Ave., SLC. Rosemary Baron, a chaplain at Intermountain Medical Center, will present an integrated look at how healing is possible physically, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually. Help Needed — St. Joseph’s Villa, 451 Bishop Federal Lane, SLC, is in need of volunteers and liturgical musicians (volunteers) for the 11:30 a.m. Sunday Mass, particularly on the second and fourth week of each month. Volunteers help residents to and from their rooms to attend Mass. Ushers, lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist also are needed. For information, contact Fr.
