CCS Drive — Now through Nov. 26, drop off turkeys, hams and other non-perishable food week days 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. to the CCS Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank, 2504 F Ave., Ogden; or Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. to United Way of Northern Utah, 2955 Harrison Blvd., Ogden. 

Vocation Awareness Night — Monday, Nov. 24, 7 - 8:15 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven. Guest speakers include members of the Daughters of Charity, the Dominicans and Sisters of St. Benedict, as well as diocesan clergy and deacons. All are welcome to this free event. Closed — Nov. 26-28 the Pastoral Center will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Advent Vespers Procession — Sunday, Nov. 30, 5 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. The Cathedral choir will feature music of Palestrina, Ord and Manz. Free and open to the public. 

Gift of the Drummer — From Dec. 1-5, Catholic Community Services  will be collecting donations at their main location 745 East 300 South, SLC. Sign up by emailing drummer@ccsutah.org to be assigned a child in need or with any questions.

Pray for Vocations — The Cathedral of the Madeleine will host the 40-hour Devotion for Vocations from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday, Dec. 1-5. Please join the prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament for the intention of religious vocations in the Diocese of Salt Lake City.

Children’s Nutcracker Ballet — Friday, Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Juan Diego Catholic High School, 11800 South 300 East, SLC. Tickets $12 for adults and $8 for children, students & seniors. A portion of the proceeds will go to the school.

Diocesan Advent Retreat — Saturday, Dec. 6, English session, 9 a.m.-noon and Spanish session 12:30-3:30 p.m. at Saint John the Baptist Parish, 11800 South 300 East, Draper. The retreat, given by Father Christopher Gray, will focus on Advent as a time to prepare for the coming of Christ in the fullness of time. Registration fee is $5 by Dec. 2; $8 at the door. Advent Retreat — Sunday, Dec. 7, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at  St. George Catholic Church, 259 West, 200 North, Saint George. Presenter will be Dominican Friar Cristóbal Torres from the Congar Institute. The retreat is free and will include a potluck.

Gingerbread House Festival — Monday, Dec. 8, 3-9 p.m. at The Garden Place at This is the Place Park, 2601 E. Sunnyside Ave., SLC. Family photos with Santa, cookie decorating, games, prizes and more. Cost: $5 for adults; $3 for children. Proceeds will go to Catholic Community Services.

Holy Day of Obligation — Monday, Dec. 8, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception begins with Morning Prayer on Monday, Dec. 8, and concludes with the celebration of Evening Prayer.

Catholic Business Network Dinner — Friday, Dec. 12, 6 p.m., at St. Vincent de Paul Parish’s Benvengu Center, 1375 E. Spring Lane, Holladay.

Christmas Carol Service — Dec. 17-18, 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple, SLC. Music of Jacob Handl, Anton Bruckner and Francis Poulenc. Free and open to the public; All seating passes have been distributed, but a  stand-by line will begin forming at 7 p.m

O Magnum Mysterium — Dec. 19-20, 7:30 p.m. at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 South 2300 East, SLC. Features the Salt Lake Choral Artists. Cost: $20; $10 with student ID. Service of Lessons and Carols — Sunday, Dec. 21, 6:30 p.m. at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 South 2300 East, SLC. Featuring the Choir of St. Ambrose and the Roper Memorial Pipe Organ. Diocese of Salt Lake City — The 2014 Simbang Gabi (Filipino traditional Advent novena of Masses) begins Dec. 15 at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish; the other participating parishes are Our Lady of Guadalupe, SLC, Dec. 16; Saint John the Baptist, Dec. 17; Saint Patrick, Dec. 18; Saint Mary, West Haven, Dec. 19; Saint. Lawrence, Dec. 20; Saint Thomas Aquinas, Dec. 21; Saint Martin de Porres, Dec. 22; and Saint Thomas More, Dec. 23. All the Masses begin at 7 p.m. except the one on Dec. 21, which begins at 5 p.m. All are invited.
