Arthur ‘Art’ was born to Arthur Francis and Marie Catherine Janke, April 22, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. Arthur graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in 1958. He attended St. Procopius College from 1958 to 1962 and graduated ‘Proco’s’ Class of 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts in economics. Following college graduation, Art began what became his 31-year career in the United States Air Force, beginning in officer commissioning training.

On July 6, 1963, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ellen (LeDuc) Janke.  Their marriage of 56 years began where they both grew up: Chicago, Illinois. The Air Force life allowed them to travel the world, reside in Michigan; Okinawa Japan; Wisconsin; New Jersey; and Pleasant View, Utah, where they lived for the last 46 years.

During his 31 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, Art served active, reserve and civil service duty, receiving full military honors as lieutenant colonel. Arthur served his community St. James the Just Catholic Church in the Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America and parish council.

Arthur is preceded in death by his parents and his beautiful wife, Patricia Janke. He is survived by his brother, Robert Janke. “Keep making us proud” we would often hear. Art and Pat’s children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren were the pride and joy of their lives. In his 83 years, he was so many things to so many people. Art was a son, brother, hero, husband, father, uncle, grandpa, great-grandpa and a friend. Art is leaving behind a legacy, his beloved family. We love you always and forever, keep making you proud. The family wants to express their gratitude to all his family and friends for their love, support and prayers.
