On March 3, Bishop Vladimir Fekete, SDB, Apostolic Prefecture of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan, visited the Cathedral of the Madeleine. He was a member of a delegation from Azerbaijan that came to Utah at the invitation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Sterling Foundation. The purpose of the visit was to promote ecumenism with their Christian churches and religious dialogue with the Muslims. The delegation also included, among others, Sheikh Ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, the spiritual leader of the Muslims in Azerbaijan and all of the Caucasus, and Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims’ Board; Khazar Ibrahim, ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States; and Melih Yevdayev, head of the Religious Community of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan.
