SALT LAKE CITY — The Judge Memorial Catholic High School student journalists took Best High School Media Program for 3A/2A/1A schools in the Utah Futures Awards, presented by the Utah College Media Alliance, which promotes student media and journalism at the high school and college levels.
The Bulldogs won numerous awards both as a staff and individually.
“The students are great,” said Derek Jensen, the school’s director of communications, adding that under the direction of Dr. Christopher Sloan, “the students have been able to produce high-quality journalism materials.”
The Bulldog Press, which has been active since 1980, has consistently won awards in various competitions, and has been recognized locally and nationally.
Over the years, the Bulldog Press has covered a wide variety of content, and incorporates internet, television, blogs and podcasting into their coverage.
“The students come up with their own ideas about what to write, and them do the research and put all the pieces together,” Jensen said.
