Carmen Ploneda Hunter
July 23, 1957 ~ November 13, 2021
Carmen Ploneda Hunter passed away of natural causes on November 13, 2021. She completed her earthly journey peacefully surrounded by her loving family and returned to her heavenly home.
She was born to her parents, Francisco Orozco and Elvira Cardenas Ploneda, on July 23, 1957 in Tijuana, Tijuana Municipality, Baja California, Mexico. Her family later moved to San Diego, California. Carmen was born a twin, the fifth child of seven children: Francisco Ploneda, Oscar Ploneda, Elvira Huezo (Hector), Silvana Perilla (her twin), Jesus Ploneda (Lourdes) and Moises Ploneda.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Hunter; seven children: Shylon (Brooke) Hunter, David Hunter, Nikita (Neil) Tomasi, Cassandra (Bracken) Grimes, Stevie Hunter, Shane (Kylee) Hunter, and Carson Hunter; as well as 16 wonderful grandchildren.
Carmen carried her fearlessness throughout her life. When given the opportunity to live, she absolutely did. This was no exception when she met the love of her life, Steven Hunter, in 1984. They quickly fell in love and got married on June 2, 1985. The love story that ensued was one designed by Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elvira Cardenas Ploneda, and her father, Francisco Orozco Ploneda.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on November 18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
