Chester Freshour

SALT LAKE CITY — Chester Freshour, 89, died Aug. 20 after a short illness.

Freshour was born Dec. 6, 1916, in Corning, Iowa, and was raised in Montana. He graduated from Forsyth High School in Montana, and was enrolled at the Montana School of Mines when he was drafted into the Costal Artillery and fought in Europe and Africa in World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he completed college and obtained a Master’s Degree in Mineral Dressing in 1950. He married Lorelei Chope in 1951, in Butte, Mont. She preceded him in death, as did his son, Gregory.

He is survived by his sons, Craig Freshour, Lakewood, Wash., and Gary Freshour, Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at CHRISTUS St. Joseph Villa.
