The Choristers of The Madeleine Choir School joined several local arts organizations at the world premiere of “The Way of the Rain - Earth Movements - A Symphony for Ballet.” The production developed by The Way of the Rain founder Sibylle Szaggars Redford in collaboration with composer Tim Janis, with choreography by Emily Adams and Ballet West dancers, was performed at the United Nations Civil Society Conference on Aug. 26. The 68th annual conference was hosted by Salt Lake City for the first time this year and the performance – inspired by the annual monsoon rains that sustain life on the fragile landscape of the high desert plateaus of the Southwest – was presented at the Eccles Theater for conference guests from all corners of the world. The multidisciplinary performance aligns with Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ and the Season of Creation as it invites the audience to remember their physical and spiritual connection to our planet’s beauty and plight through paintings, music, dance, film, light and spoken word.
