CEDAR CITY — When the banners and poster go up, that’s the signal for Stewardship Renewal Month to begin. The Stewardship Council at Christ the King Church hosts this renewal each year; the journey consists of testimonies plus support from clergy, a Ministry Fair, the Renewal to Commitments weekend, and the presentation of the “Gifts of Gratitude” on Christ the King Sunday.
This year, the parish’s Ministry Fair celebration was held Oct. 25-26. The Stewardship Council presents this festive and social event with the help of ministry leaders and the Spanish community. This year’s theme, “We Are Living Stones – Building a Community of Faith,” proved true. Parishioners celebrated the work of their ministries and organizations as they gathered for refreshments and socialized with the parish community. This was the time to learn more about the opportunities offered in the parish and where they may serve in response to Jesus’ call.
Guest speaker was Diocesan Director of Stewardship and Development John Kaloudis, who spoke about Christian stewardship at two weekend Masses.
On the following weekend during all of the Masses, the parish was invited to fill out their family renewal commitment forms for the coming year. Parishioners not at Mass on that weekend have the opportunity to renew or to inquire about a particular ministry on a later date.
As Stewardship Renewal Month came to a close, the renewal forms or “Gifts of Gratitude” were presented with the offertory gifts on the parish’s feast day, Christ the King Sunday.
This is the fourth year Christ the King has celebrated Renewal Month. To view photos of the Ministry Fair and other parish activities, visit christthekingutah.org.
