SALT LAKE CITY — Christine "Mommy" Brimley, 38, died June 15.

Brimley was born Jan. 28, 1969, in South Pasadena, Calif., to Sheldon and Gerry Bates. She married John Christopher Brimley in 1992. Her two daughters were her passion, along with running marathons, other long-distant events, triathlons, skiing with family and friends, baking, creating jewelry, gardening, and going to the beach. She was a special woman who touched the lives of many. She was an inspiration to all in her battle with cancer never giving up or letting her illness get her down. She had a favorite quote from author Erma Bombeck: "When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have one bit of talent left, and could say I used everything you gave me."

She is survived by her husband, Chris; daughters, Paige, 12, and Peri Melissa, 9; parents; brother, Brian (Kim) Bates; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
