At the Cathedral Christmas Family Day on Dec. 6, youngsters from the parish community, along with their parents and grandparents, joined The Madeleine Choir School students in a celebration of Advent. The visitors made paper Advent wreaths at the school before heading over to the cathedral. There they also listened to a choir of students in the fourth through eighth grades perform Christmas carols, and heard the story of St. Nicholas from school Principal Megan Randazzo. A special visitor in the form of St. Nicholas himself (Tyler Oliphant, left) joined them, shared additional facts from his life and answered questions. At the end of the event, St. Nicholas gave the children candy canes.
