December 23, 1932 ~ December 2, 1950

Corporal David B. Milano, MIA, was lost in action during the Korean War on December 2, 1950. After 71 years, he was repatriated to the United States and reunited with his family.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 23, 1932, to Albert and Lida Milano. He grew up on the south side of Chicago and attended Bright Elementary and Bowing High School. He attended St. Kevin’s Catholic Church.

As a young man, David enlisted in the United States Army on March 13, 1950. He received his first military orders to go to Germany but was later re-assigned to go to Korea. The U.S. Army gave David the right to be reassigned from his service in Korea because he was the only son in his family. As a patriot and defender of freedom, he chose to accept his assignment to Korea.

On December 2, 1950, the Army reported David Missing in Action during a military battle in the vicinity of the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea. At the time of his loss, he held the rank of private first class, he was promoted to the grade of corporal on May 1, 1953. Corporal Milano’s remains were returned to the United States as a result of a repatriation agreement between the U.S. and Korean governments.  

David was preceded in death by his father. He preceded several late family members in death, including his mother, a sister and brother-in-law, Tunney and Delores Jordan and a nephew Tunney Ray Jordan (Lita), who all died while he was missing in action in Korea.

David is survived by his nephews Kevin (Leslie) Jordan, David (Tanya) Jordan, nieces Delores M. Bitton (Curtis), Celeste Kosage (Ken) and Gloria Jordan.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on April 29, 2022, at St. James the Just Catholic Church. David was laid to rest next to his mother, sister and brother-in law at Evergreen Memorial Park, Ogden.
