Bishop Oscar. A. Solis presides at the Mass during the diocesan Advent retreat on Dec. 2 at St. John the Baptist Church. Concelebrants were Fr. Rick Sherman, pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish; Fr. Jose Barrerra, pastor of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish; and Fr. Joseph Delka, parochial vicar of St. Joseph Parish (Ogden). Deacon Dale Dillon and Deacon John Kranz assisted.

All worthy human conduct is hope in action, and "worldly things don't last; what God brings will not pass away," said Father Joseph Delka, presenter of the Diocese of Salt Lake City 2017 Advent retreat on Dec. 2.

In his homily at the Mass, Bishop Oscar A. Solis said that Advent offers the opportunity to recapture the lasting joy that comes only from God. "God calls us to be watchful in praer, to stay alert in living our faith, and to remain focused on the presence of Christ in our midst," he said.

The Dec. 8 Intermountain Catholic will ahve the story.
