SALT LAKE CITY — A new program at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Newman Center invites Catholics age 18-25 to a year of formation, mission and discernment to prepare them to go out as witnesses to the Gospel.
The missionaries will live a life based on the four Dominican pillars of community, ministry, study and prayer.
“They will have unique and powerful opportunities to grow in faith, serve the missionary mandate of Our Lord, and gain some direction on their future vocation,” said Father Cody Jorgensen, OP, director of campus ministry at St. Catherine’s.
“I am convinced that the Holy Spirit, who moved St. Dominic to found the Order of Preachers in 1216 for the preaching of the Gospel and the salvation of souls, desires to more openly manifest his power in these times,” Fr. Cody said.
He is inviting all Catholic young adults at the University of Utah and nearby academic centers “to discern the Spirit’s call through the charism of St. Dominic. He will call us to deeper faith, renew our hearts and minds, and send us as witnesses of the Gospel.”
This spring, St. Catherine’s will accept the first class of Dominican missionaries for the upcoming academic year.
