SALT LAKE CITY — Captain Edwin R. Wallace SC, US Navy died Aug. 11, 2011.

Wallace was born Dec. 17, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to Roland Lester and Mabel L. Wallace. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served until 1954. He married Helen Norrine Nichols July 11, 1954 in Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Sommerville, Mass. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1984.

Wallace was active in the local community, serving on many boards and councils. He was also a founding member of St. Florence Parish in Huntsville.

Wallace is survived by his daughters, Vicki Lynn (Doug) Hill, Susan Kay (Michael) Hoffman and Julie Ann (Thomas) Wolfe, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Wallace was preceded in death by his wife Helen, parents, and infant daughter, Amy Marie.

A Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Florence Catholic Church
