January 15, 1929 ~ August 22, 2020
Eloy, our chosen warrior, lost his battle with a greater foe. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty,” Psalm 91.1.
We lost our family’s brightest beacon of light, our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle; he left his earthly being and began his journey as our eternal light.
Eloy was born on January 15, 1929 in San Cristobal, New Mexico; he served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Huntington 107. After his tour of duty, he returned home, where he met his wife, Josephine. They married in September of 1949.
Eloy was a very hard worker throughout his life and was the proud owner of two businesses, Champion Heating and Air and Payless Builders. He loved to fish and camp with his family, and absolutely loved baseball, especially the Colorado Rockies.
Everyone who knew him loved Eloy and he was an inspiration to all that were fortunate to meet this incredible man. He would always tell people, “There are two kinds of people: those who love people and those who use people,” and everyone knew that he was the one who loved people. He had a way of making everyone feel special. He was the most patient, kind, understanding man with an incredible sense of humor; he had a way of making people comfortable and making them laugh with his very funny stories.
We are saddened by the loss of this beautiful man but so grateful for the time we had with him.
Eloy is survived by his wife, Josephine; daughters Linda Morgan, Suzie Martinez; his grandchildren Jason (Shauna) Morgan, Stacey (Sean) Ajax-Martinez, Andrew Martinez; great-grandchildren Noah Tullos, Jade and Canyon Morgan, Jacob Martinez. His son Andy preceded him in death.
Special thanks to CNS Hospice, and his nurse Joelle Chase.
Dad, we’re taking you home to be laid to rest with your son Andy and the rest of your family. Interment will be held at a later date on the family ranch in San Cristobal, New Mexico.
A visitation will be held at Neil O’Donnell Funeral Home September 9 from 2 to 4 p.m.
