Eucharistic adoration on June 2 + Enlarge

A number of parishes in Utah will participate in the simultaneous worldwide Eucharistic adoration led by Pope Francis, who  has called for an hour of worldwide simultaneous Eucharistic adoration on Sunday, June 2, at 9 a.m. Utah time.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Divine Worship has pointed out that because of normal Sunday Mass schedules, scheduling such a gathering may be challenging in the United States, so they suggest keeping the spirit of the gathering by holding the Holy Hour “at a more convenient time on that day, such as on Sunday afternoon following the last Mass of the day.”

In a statement, the USCCB says such a celebration “could include a traditional Eucharistic procession,” and it would also be appropriate “to mark the celebration of regularly scheduled Masses ... with special solemnity, and to note the unity of prayer with the Holy Father at that time through the homily and Prayer of the Faithful."

Various parishes in Utah have scheduled such celebrations on June 2. Locations and times follow.

· The Cathedral of the Madeleine (309 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City) – Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament following the 8:30 a.m. Mass until just prior to the 11 a.m. Mass. Following the 11 a.m. Mass, the Cathedral will hold its traditional Solemnity of Corpus Christi procession, with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until just before the 3 p.m. Mass. Adoration will continue after this Mass until the end of Vespers, about 6 p.m.

· Christ the King Catholic Church (690 S. Cove Dr., Cedar City) – Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament after the 9 a.m. Mass (roughly 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.)

· Saint Ann Catholic Church (450 East 2100 South) – Holy Hour beginning at 2 p.m. with Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and recitation of the rosary.  Time for Confessions will be offered and all will renew Baptismal Promises so that those present may receive the Plenary Indulgence of the Year of Faith (St. Ann Parish has been designated by Bishop John C. Wester as a pilgrimage site for the Year of Faith).

· Saint Joseph Catholic Church (349 S. Main St., Monticello) – Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 6 to 7 p.m.

· Saint Jude Maronite Catholic Church (4900 Wasatch St., Murray) – Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 9 a.m.
