Father Charles Cummings, OCSO, who had been a monk at the now-closed Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity in Huntsville and more recently served as chaplain of Trappist-Cistercian nuns in Crozet, Virginia, died January 15, 2020 at the Abbey of New Clairvaux. in Vina, California.
He was born in 1940 in Ironwood, Michigan. He entered Holy Trinity in 1960, made his solemn profession in 1965 and was ordained a priest in 1971. He was 80 years old, had been in monastic vows for 57 years and 49 years a priest when the Lord called him.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated January 25 at the monastery in Vina.
