Father Michael Buckley

Father Michael Buckley died of cancer September 21, 2024 at St. Joseph Villa in Salt Lake City in the company of his family and friends. He was 54.

He was born August 3, 1970 to Mary A. Buckley and Michael J. Buckley, Jr. in Salt Lake City. After graduating from the University of Portland he joined the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division; he received an honorable discharge in 1994. 

Called to the priesthood, he attended and graduated from Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri and was ordained a priest June 28, 2014 in the Diocese of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He served in many parishes and hospital ministries in Colorado Springs and in Salt Lake City. He eventually retired in Salt Lake City due to health problems.

He is survived by his mother Mary A. Buckley, and his brother Paul B. Buckley.

The vigil with rosary will be Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 7 p.m. at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11 a.m., also at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Salt Lake City.
