Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Genevieve “Jean” Dittenhauser, 88, passed away on June 15, 2017 in Ogden. She was born on Aug. 1, 1928 in Buffalo, N.Y., a daughter of Simon Peter and Anna Batog.
Genevieve grew up in Buffalo, N.Y., where she married John Louis Dittenhauser on Oct. 15, 1955. Together they had two sons and a daughter. In 2007, they relocated to Harrisville, Utah. John preceded her in death in June of 2012.
Genevieve’s favorite activities were reading and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Genevieve is survived by her sons, Michael John (Beverly) Dittenhauser of Richland, Wash. and John Mark (Jonellyn) Dittenhauser of Hartsville, S.C.; daughter Carol Ann (Russ) George of Pleasant View, Utah; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents Simon Peter and Anna Batog; and sisters Sophie Cimmerer and Elizabeth Woz.
Genevieve’s family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Mountain Ridge Assisted Living, their family doctor, David Schitz and Brio Home Health and Hospice for their beyond-the-call-of-duty physical therapy and compassionate end of life care.
A memorial Mass was celebrated July 7 at St. James the Just Catholic Church. Services were entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
