By Special to the Intermountain Catholic

Fr. Martin Diaz, rector of the cathedral, looks on as Stacey Lovato, who with her sister Denise Ornelas volunteers at the Good Samaritan program operated by the Cathedral of the Madeleine, hands a cup of hot cocoa to a client. Both women are Blessed Sacrament parishioners. The Good Samaritan program re-opened Oct. 14 at its new location at the St. Vincent de Paul dining hall, 437 West 200 South, Salt Lake City. The facility includes a walk-in freezer and walk-in refrigerator, and is designed for food preparation, which the previous site, next to the cathedral, was not. The program’s new hours of operation are Monday – Saturday, 9-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.; and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact Darren Williams, 801-328-5633 or dwilliams@utcotm.org.
