June, 8 1937 ~ June 16, 2018
Our beloved father “Pops,” grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away on June 16, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.
Gusman, 81, was born June 8, 1937, in El Rito, N.M. to Jose and Aurora Vigil.
On July 27, 1960, he married his honey, Erlinda Baca.
Shortly thereafter, they moved to Salt Lake City, where together they raised six children whom he was very proud of and loved with all his heart.
As an amazing father, he loved every possible second with his family. He loved family gatherings, trips to Wendover, western movies, taking care of his yard, sports and being devoted to the Catholic faith.
Gusman was a devoted sports fan and was loyal to the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees, and University of New Mexico Lobos. Pops especially loved coaching his daughters in softball.
In 1974 he was awarded the Deseret News Citizens Alert Award for being a true-life hero. He will be deeply missed.
Wedo is survived by his children, Eric, Jeff, Mark (Donna), Ruth (Brian), Pamela (Ezra), and Taralyn; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brothers Johnny and Jerry; sisters Lillie, Sarah and Dulcie; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his brother Levi, sisters Rosarita and Cindy, and grandson Markie Jr.
A special thanks to the doctors and staff of Utah Cancer Specialists, Gamma West Cancer Services and Valeo Home Health Care.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 22 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Committal was at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
