Hi X. Tran

SALT LAKE CITY — Hi X. Tran, 76, died Jan. 4. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.

Tran was born Feb. 5, 1930, to Ngoc Tran and Hue Nguyen on a little farm in the countryside of Tra Vinh, Vietnam. Life there was difficult at the time, but Tran managed to have fun. She was a colorful and mischievous character who enjoyed pulling pranks, partying, dancing, and, of course, shopping. In 1983, she had the courage to leave her war-torn country to seek a new life in Utah with her daughter, Truc Tran, where she lived peacefully until her death. She lived a life paved with joy, suffering, joy, trials, adventure and love.

She is survived by her daughter, Truc Tran (Hao Pham); grandchildren, Teresa Xuan Pham and Matthew Thanh Pham; sister, Yen Tran Nguyen; and brother, Anh V. Tran.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
