August 1, 1941 ~ July 31, 2018

Jack M. Foreman was born August 1, 1941 to Ralph and Pauline Foreman in Phoenix, Ariz., and is survived by his three daughters, Kathleen White, Laura Slaughter and Erin Foreman.

Jack received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Arizona State University and often reflected fondly about the brothers he made in the Phi Sig Fraternity. Following the completion of his schooling and some time as a fifth-grade teacher, he returned to ASU to work in the development department and played an integral role in the fundraising for the Packard Baseball Stadium. This experience would lead him to a sales career at IBM, Wang Laboratories in Las Vegas, Blue Cross Blue Shield in Salt Lake City and then finally to starting his own company, LJE Insurance, in 1995.

With a business career that carried him over half of the United States and clocked over a million miles on the road, Jack approached everyone he met as a friend with a story to share. It was always clear that his friends and family weren’t far from his thoughts by the regular news and magazine clippings he sent by mail. It is widely rumored that, in doing this, Jack was single-handedly responsible for keeping the US Postal Service afloat for the past few decades.

He had a connection to nature, the Southwest and Native American culture and would marry those loves into his photography, which received both state and national accolades.

His spirituality and faith were an anchor through his life. You would often hear him reflect on a favorite message from a homily that informed how he tried to approach life: “You’ve got to give it away to keep it.”  For him, his legacy was not meant to be one of things and belongings, but of being of service to those who needed it.

Jack passed away on July 31, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the South Salt Lake Animal Services, 2274 South 600 West, South Salt Lake, UT 84115 and the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Renovation Fund, St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 1375 Spring Lane, Salt Lake City, UT, 84117.
