Joe Dispenza

WEST JORDAN — Joe Dispenza, 88, died July 12. He was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, West Jordan.

Dispenza was born May 21, 1919, in Trinidad, Colo., to Sam and Anna Compagno Dispenza. He was raised in Colorado, and then moved to Bingham Canyon in 1941. He married Diana Lipsey Sept. 2, 1942. She preceded him in death July 15, 2004. He enjoyed a full and rewarding life. He served as mayor of Bingham Canyon for eight years. He was a member of the volunteer fire department in Bingham Canyon, served as president of Local 485 of the steelworkers, volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen for 18 years, and served as a volunteer for six years in the lunch room at Juan Diego Catholic High School.

He is survived by his daughter, Paulette Antonio; grandchildren, Kevin (Aida) Green, Elizabeth (David) Blair, Patricia (Paul) Peters, all of California; Philipe Antonio II, New York, Eric Antonio, Sandy, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Bettie Lipsey; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Interment was in Larkin Sunset Gardens.
