February 19, 1930 ~ February 3, 2022

Our beloved father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2022 at the age of 91.

Joe was born on February 19, 1930 in San Antonio, Colorado to parents Celedon Archuleta and Salome Atencio Archuleta. At the age of 17, Joe moved to Salt Lake City, where he became employed by Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. Joe retired on June 1990 after 43 years. On May 7, 1952, Joe married Frances Sisneros and they had four children.

Joe was quite the rascal who loved to tease everyone. He had the biggest smile, and when he laughed his eyes would squint and sparkle. He was the planner of epic childhood camping trips for his children and grandchildren. In his heyday he was the first on the dance floor and the last to leave! So many cousins and friends loved his badminton prowess, and playing baseball with everyone at Jordan Park. One of our biggest joys were the memories of traveling to San Antonio, Colorado every summer to spend time with our big loving family. We know he is in heaven now relaxing and listening to his Mexican or old country music.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Frances, parents Celedon and Salome, sisters Rose Lucero and Nellie Martinez.

Joe is survived by children Doris (Gary) Itow, Randy (Vera) Archuleta, Danny (JoAnna) Archuleta, Brenda (Ray) Robbs, brother Ernie Archuleta and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Wentworth of East Millcreek Assisted Living for their care and kindness during his declining health.

A funeral Mass was celebrated February 9 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Salt Lake City. Interment at Mount Cavalry Catholic Cemetery.
