OGDEN — Katherine Eileen Dean, 85, died Feb. 18.

She was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Salt Lake City to Chelsea Kehoe and Charles A. Dean. She grew up in Superior, Wyo. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Loretta Heights College in Denver, Colo., and was listed in the 1944 "Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." She was a medical technology intern in Kansas City, Mo. During her professional career, she served in Rock Springs, Wyo., at St. Benedict’s Hospital in Ogden, Sacred Heart Hospital in Idaho Falls, the Ogden Clinic, and McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. She was the first president of the Utah Society of Medical Technologists and received the first annual award as Medical Technologist of the year in 1962-1963.

Dean is survived by her brother, Charles A. (Joanne) Dean, Jr, Bountiful; sister-in-law, Doris Dean, Boise, Idaho; and 10 nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated at Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
