Hundreds of children in Utah received new winter coats over the past two Saturdays, thanks to the Knights of Columbus, who distributed them at Catholic Community Services in Ogden, Saint Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Salt Lake City, K-Mart in Spanish Fork and other locations around the state. The children also received hats, gloves, scarves and other gifts. “We know there are many families struggling to make ends meet,” said Jerry Hanten, Knights of Columbus, “so we wanted to donate the coats, hats and gloves needed to make it through winter in Utah and to take one more burden off of their parents. A special thanks to the Knights of Columbus in parishes across Utah who held fundraisers for these events; and [because of] the generosity of our parishioners, we were able to give these children early Christmas gifts.”
