LAYTON — On Nov. 11, the Knights of Columbus St. Rose of Lima Council 6010 celebrated the 50th anniversary of the issuance of its charter by Knights of Columbus Supreme Council. The Supreme Council issued Council’s 6010 on Nov. 21, 1967.

The celebration began with the celebration of Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton. The Monsignor Cushnahan Assembly 1429 Color Corps provided services for the Mass. In his remarks during the Mass, Fr. Clarence Sandoval, pastor, praised the Council’s work within the parish and community.

Following the Mass, the Council hosted a social and dinner, which was provided by Red Flame Catering. The dinner was attended by Knights and their spouses from Council 6010, charter members families, parishioners, and Knights of Columbus district and state officers.

Utah State Deputy Andrew Airriess presented an Anniversary Certificate from Supreme Knight Carl Anderson extending congratulations to the officers, members and families of St. Rose of Lima Council 6010 on their “50 years of service to the Catholic Church and your community.”

The Supreme Knight also asked that the council members and families re-dedicate themselves to the “teachings of our faith and the ideals of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism held so dear by our founders, and especially those who founded your council 50 years ago.”

In addition, Airriess presented to Joseph A. Neid, Grand Knight of Council 6010, the Star Council Award for 2016-2017 in recognition for the Council achieving 128 percent of its recruitment goal.

Dennis A. Martinez is the Deputy Grand Knight for St. Rose of Lima Council 6010.
