Manuel Avelino Chavez

SALT LAKE CITY — Manuel A. Chavez, 79, died June 1. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Salt Lake City.

Chavez was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Juanita, Colo., to Manuel Antino and Lena Archuleta Chavez. He was proud to serve his country during the Korean War. He was a loving man to everyone around him.

He is survived by his sisters, Ruby (Louie) Fiorini, Emma (Marvin) Waganer, Pauline (Frank) Suazo, Stella (Dave) Rivas, Libby (Martin) Rodriguez, Marie (Joseph) Salazar, Connie (Eddie) Moreno, Lydia (James) O’Hearn, Bennie (John) Gomez; many nieces and nephews; special God children, Greg Suazo and Jacob Burrus.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Committal was in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
