SALT LAKE CITY — Margaret "Lois" Conaty, 95, passed away May 2, 2012.

Conaty was born in Arvada, Colo. to Isabel Margaret and Chalmer John Scott on April 7, 1917.

She married Joseph P. Conaty in 1944; they later divorced. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was one of the first three women stationed on the naval base at Annapolis, Md., where she was a flight instructor. She gave countless hours to St. Mark’s Hospital through the St. Martha’s Baby Project and served breakfast to homeless men every Sunday morning under the 400 South viaduct.

Conaty was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy and brother Jack.

Conaty is survived by her children, Joe Conaty, Kathy Hintze, Marty Conaty and Rob (Kim) Conaty; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in the chapel at St. Joseph’s Villa.
