SALT LAKE CITY — Margaret Teresa Salmon Mates, 83, passed away April 26, 2012.

Mates was born Jan. 18, 1929 in Salt Lake City, to Marguerite Agnes McLane Salmon and John J. "Jack" Salmon. She married Robert R. "Bob" Mates on July 7, 1948 and was active in Saint Ambrose Parish and her children’s school, social, recreation and sports activities.

Mates was preceded in death by her parents, sister Catherine and husband, Bob Mates.

Mates is survived by her children, Dan Mates, Betsy (Grover) Thompson, Char Mates, Ben Mates (Silvana Contreras), Marty (Alejandra) Mates, and Andy Mates; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
