June 11, 1948~ July 31, 2018

Mary Patricia (Pat) Kuralt, devoted mother and aunt, book-lover extraordinaire and sometime queen of the cribbage, trivia and Scrabble boards, passed away on July 31, 2018, at the age of 70.

She was born on June 11, 1948, in Mobile, Ala. Her father served in the Air Force for much of her childhood, so she moved frequently, finally settling in Utah when he was stationed at Hill Air Force Base. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1965. While working with her father and mother at the Hill AFB bowling center, Pat met future husband James Kuralt. They married in 1967 and divorced in 1999. She gave birth to a daughter and two sons. She lived in Sunset for nearly 30 years before moving to West Point in 1998.

Pat worked in civil service at Hill AFB, where she followed her passion for reading into a library technician position at Gerrity Memorial Library and supported people of all faiths as the Wing Chaplain’s secretary at the Hill AFB Chapel. She was known at Hill for her kindness, efficiency and generosity in giving time to help others. In 2010, she retired to focus on the hobbies she loved: reading, gardening, enjoying her children and her dogs, watching her favorite TV shows, and playing her favorite card and computer games. She moved to West Jordan to live with her sons in 2011, where she spent seven happy years prior to her final illness.

Pat is survived by her three children: Karen, David, and Robert Kuralt; sister Mary Ann (Richard) Keindl; nephews Douglas (Pam) and Edward Keindl; and her beloved dogs, Zorro and Bear.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Luman; and by her beloved dogs Pepper, Taffy and Twix.

A funeral Mass was celebrated August 7, 2018 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Interment was at Evergreen Memorial Park in Ogden.
