October 5, 1936 ~ August 10, 2020
Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Max R. Kelly passed away on August 10, 2020 at the young age of 83.
Max was born in McPhee, Colorado to Mary C. Kelly and Isaac Kelly on October 5, 1936. He then moved to Salt Lake, where he married the love of his life, Susie Miera Kelly. They raised five beautiful kids together and a granddaughter who was raised as their own.
Max is survived by daughter Vanessa Maestas, son Fred Kelly (Brenda), Marisol Hernandez and Alex JR Hernandez, 20 grandchildren and 31-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife Susie Kelly, sons Max L. Kelly, Anthony P. Kelly; daughters Diana M. Kelly, Ruby M. Kelly; brothers Frank Kelly, Charles Kelly and sister Vera Salazar; three grandchildren Cassy, Dez D., and Anthony and one great-grandchild Nevaeh.
My gramps was loving and caring. His smile would light up any room. His tender heart would always make you know how special you were to him.
Max was a hard-working humble man; concrete was his all-time love. He worked concrete his whole life. He enjoyed working and teaching his sons and grandsons everything he knew about it. He started a business Kelly Concrete along with his sons, which was his pride and joy.
Max and family just went together perfectly; he enjoyed every moment being around everyone. He adored his grandkids; he knew we were the ones that would carry on the strength of his name as we grew up. His great-grandkids were the light of his life. He always talked about all of them and how much he missed and loved them.
Gramps loved his music; he would sit in his room TV full blast and whether it be country, Reggaeton, Cardi B or J. Lo, was always tapping his leg, enjoying the music, smiling. My grandpa was a great man, an amazing worker, great father, fantastic grandpa. He will truly be missed by everyone.
I would like to thank my kids Marisol (Ruby) and JR for the way you stepped up and took care of gramps. Also, to Dr. Muhlestein, thank you so much for all of your care and keeping my grandfather here as long as you did. You, my friend, are amazing.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral of the Madeleine on August 18.
