Earlier this year Holy Cross Ministries began a new program to help immigrants who are interested in starting their own business. Partnering with the Small Business Administration and other agencies, HCM launched its Economic Opportunity program this spring to help immigrants start their own business.

The program provides resources such as business consulting, networking and access to capital through the SBA and the International Rescue Committee, said Andy Cier, HCM’s director of development and communications.

HCM is reaching out to the Hispanic community with information about this new resource. Studies show that immigrants who start their own businesses not only better themselves but also provide positive role models for their children even if the business does not succeed, Cier said.
