Prayer Groups Around the Diocese Photo 1 of 4
Saint Francis Xavier Parish's prayer group gather every Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City is comprised of about 300,000 Catholics, who worship in the 69 parishes and missions located all over the state of Utah.

In the nearly 85,000 squares miles that compromise the diocese, more than 41 priests serve, in addition to about 145 deacons. Religious women, brothers and priests also minister in Utah.

Varied ministries reach out to people of different ethnic backgrounds, especially Hispanic people, who make up a large percentage of the growing Catholic population.

One of these ministries is the prayer groups that gather on different days and, in some places, every week at their parishes.

Of these prayer groups, 14 are affiliated with the diocesan Charismatic Renewal. They meet in missions such as Santa Ana in Tremonton and Saint Jude  in Ephraim; as well as in parishes such as St. Francis of Assisi in Orem, Saint Andrew in Payson, Saint Therese of the Child Jesus in Midvale, and St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Hyde Park, among many others.
