In the Diocese of Salt Lake City there are 79 Roman Catholic priests, of whom 16 are retired.

Of the remaining 62, 42 are incardinated, meaning they are under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Salt Lake City. The others are extern priests who are temporarily ministering in the diocese.

Currently, the diocese has eight seminarians.

The diocese also is blessed with the ministry of members of various religious orders, including Discalced  Carmelites, the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Daughters of Charity, the Sisters of St. Benedict, the Jesuit Fathers, Dominicans (Order of Preachers) and the Trappists (retired).

During this National Vocations Week, Catholics are called to pray that God sends the vocational call to men and women to enter the priestly and religious life, and also that these young people answer the call.
