Those looking forward to the annual Funds of Love event will see some changes this year. For the first time in its six-year history the event will be held off the monastery grounds – at Union Station.

"This year, because it’s our 35th anniversary, we felt it was time for us to have it in a building that the general community could come but we wouldn’t have issues with parking," said Yvonne Ulloa Coiner, St. Benedict’s Foundation executive director.

The public is invited to the dinner, and Coiner is particularly hoping that previous board members will attend.

"There have been some very, very wonderful, generous and talented people who have served on the board here and continue to," she said.

Union Grill will cater the sit-down dinner, which will include a comedy show by Craig Bielik. The event – one of the three major fundraisers for the foundation – will include the traditional silent and live auctions. However, this year the boutique will be a separate event, scheduled for Oct. 14-15 at the monastery.

"That’s where the sisters’ famous peach jalapeno jam is sold," Coiner said; the sisters and others picked the peaches on Sept. 3. "The jam is something people cannot get enough of."

Another popular boutique item is the handmade baby quilts from members of a North Ogden ward. "We match them up with a stuffed animal and those fly right out the door," she said.

Tickets for the 6th annual Funds of Love are $50; for information or to RSVP call 801-479-1800 or email sbf@mbmutah.org.
