ST. GEORGE — Catholic Answers Live radio host Cy Kellet and apologist Tim Staples will present three talks at St. George Parish in St. George.
The talks are part of the fundraising efforts for the new church planned for Washington City, about five miles northeast of St. George.
The radio show will air live from St. George Parish’s Kuzy Hall on May 20. The next day, Staples will present “Three Talks on the Eucharist.”
Catholic Answers Live, is a daily, two-hour radio program dedicated to Catholic apologetics and evangelization. According to their mission statement, “Catholic Answers is a media ministry that serves Christ by explaining and defending the Catholic faith. We help Catholics grow in their faith, we bring former Catholics home, and we lead non-Catholics into the fullness of the truth.”
Staples is a convert to Catholicism. He was raised a Southern Baptist and converted to Catholicism in 1988. He spent six years in priestly formation, but after realizing his calling was not to the priesthood, he left the seminary. Since 1994 he has been working in Catholic apologetics and evangelization.
Everyone is invited to the events at St. George Catholic Church. Proceedings will go toward construction of the new church.
An estimated 4,000 Catholic families live in the St. George area, but the existing church can hold only about 600 people.
The plans are to build a church of 20,000 to 25,000 square feet that will hold about 1,500 people. The estimated cost is $5 million.
