The 2nd Annual Christmas Pageant, written and directed by Saint George Parish’s parochial vicar Father Tai Nguyen, was presented Dec. 22 in Kuzy Hall by the youth of the parish. The pageant was narrated by several adult parishioners. Costumes were courtesy of parishioner Barbara Bushey.
The pageant opened with a presentation of the Old Testament and God’s creation of the universe. As the narrators presented the story of creation, the youth portrayed the light, water and vegetation, as well as all the creatures brought forth to inhabit the earth.
The story then moved to the creation of Adam and Eve and their fateful sin in the Garden of Eden from which man was thus banned.
The second part of the pageant told of Jesus’ nativity. To a full house, the youth presented the events of Christ’s birth, beginning with the appearance of the Angel Gabriel to Mary when she gave her faith-filled "yes" to the Father to become the mother of Jesus. The portrayal followed her visit to Elizabeth, Joseph’s willingness to take Mary into his home upon hearing the message delivered to him by the angel, and their painful journey to Bethlehem, where Mary gave birth to our Savior.
As the pageant concluded with the arrival of the shepherds and the three kings bearing gifts for the Savior, Christmas music swelled within the hall.
