Cecilia and Elizabeth Child (shown with their parents and brother) were honored by Mayor Patrick Dunlavy for their service to the community, their school, and their family during the Oct. 1 Tooele City Council meeting. It was the first time students from Saint Marguerite Catholic School were presented with an award from the Mayor’s Youth Recognition program, and also was the first time a set of twins was honored.
According to Principal Lorena Needham, the girls were key to the inauguration of a school safety patrol; they also are peer reading tutors for younger students and excellent scholars. In addition, they are altar servers, often serving several Masses a week, including funerals, and they recently helped train a new class of 20 altar servers, most of whom were new students at the school.
