While the Stations of the Cross are typically placed inside the church, San Felipe Catholic Church in Wendover has an outdoor Stations of the Cross.

The Stations of the Cross is a Catholic popular devotion. Many parishes in the Diocese of Salt Lake City offer the devotion during Lent on Friday evenings, sometimes paired with a fish fry or soup supper.

The practice of the Stations of the Cross began with early pilgrims to Jerusalem, who would retrace Christ’s journey from the condemnation by Pilate to the crucifixion.

In modern practice, 14 stages of Christ’s journey are depicted in the Stations of the Cross. Shown here is a representation of the Stations of the Cross depicted in various artistic media and styles that can be seen in churches in the Diocese of Salt Lake City.
