There is something to be said about the power of prayer. Prayer has the ability to calm the soul with its soothing dialogue between us and the ones we pray to and pray for.
Saint Dominic is credited for introducing the rosary as we know it today, merging vocal prayer with meditation on the mysteries of each decade. Each passing bead of the rosary perfectly aligns our mind with our heart. It slows us down, provides rest to those who are weary and gives strength to those who feel weak.
The rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary “is the weapon against the evils of the world today,” Saint Padre Pio said. “All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother.”
When the pandemic hit last year, most of us felt a bit of helplessness, fear and overwhelming uncertainty. All that we could do was pray, and what better way to do this than by praying the most holy rosary?
At the very heart of the Skaggs Catholic Center campus, home to Juan Diego Catholic High School, is a prayer grotto devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe and Saint Juan Diego. It is here where we gather as a community both in times of celebration and grief. Much as a child runs to its mother, we too run to the Blessed Mother for her protection and comfort. At any given time during the day you will often find someone in our grotto, praying.
Continuing our tradition of praying the most holy rosary as a community, Juan Diego Catholic High School invites the public to join us for our Sunday Sunset Rosary series Sundays, Aug. 22 and 29 and Sept. 12, 19 and 26. Prayer begins at 7 p.m. in the Grotto of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 300 East 11800 South, Draper. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our campus and having you join us in prayer.
