Catherine of Siena/Newman Center will have Tenebrae services Good Friday at 7:30 a.m. and Holy Saturday at 8 a.m. Tenebrae (Latin for ‘shadows’ or ‘darkness’) is the term for the liturgical offices for Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Dominicans pray the Tenebrae each year as a particular tradition of their order. Shown is Dominican Father Carl Schlichte, pastor of Saint Catherine of Siena/Newman Center, praying the Lamentation of the prophet Jeremiah during the Tenebrae for Holy Thursday.
