BOUNTIFUL — Teresa Loretta Finnegan Merritt, 92, died Aug. 6. She was a member of St. Olaf Parish, Bountiful.

Merritt was born July 28, 1915, to Patrick Finnegan and Catherine Driscoll Finnegan. Her mother died of tuberculosis when Merritt was 8 years old, which created an uncommonly strong bond between her and her three sisters. Merritt worked as a secretary for Ingersoll-Rand in New York, where she met Joe Merritt. They were married May 4, 1940, and remained married for more than 66 years. He preceded her in death. She enjoyed her bridge clubs and meetings of Catholic women known as the "Wolf Pack." Merritt was a member of St. Olaf Parish when Mass was celebrated in a small house on Main Street in Bountiful. She was a sports fan, and had a strategically built-in fold out ironing board, which made ironing while watching the World Series no problem.

She is survived by two sons, Joe (Joyce), San Diego, Calif., and Chris (Kathy), Salt Lake City; daughter, Mary Sheila (Bob), Mill Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Kristen (Chris) Pincherli, Long Beach, Calif., William, Salt Lake City, James, Gilbert, Ariz., Sarah Mass and Ian Mass, Mill Valley, Calif.; sister, Marge, Palm Harbor, Fla.; and a great-grandson due in October.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Olaf Catholic Church. Committal was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
